Funded Minor Ailment Services

Eligible patients may receive a pharmacist consultation and approved treatment at half price or no charge for:

  • Pain and fever relief: children under 14

  • Dehydration and oral rehydration: children under 14

  • Conjunctivitis: children under 14

  • Head lice: children under 14, and eligible whānau members with the same condition

  • Scabies: children under 14, and eligible whānau members with the same condition

  • Emergency contraception: women under 25

  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infections: women aged 16 to 65

Eligibility criteria apply, and treatment will depend on the pharmacist’s clinical assessment. Referral to another healthcare provider may be recommended when appropriate.
